‘Kesariya’ of ‘Brahmastra’ has been topping the music charts since its release. What kind of responses are you getting?
Too many tags on most Instagram! The version I posted on my profile is getting a lot of love too! I am just happy to be a part of it.
How did you come on board for the song and how was your experience recording the song?
A few days before the release, Dada (Pritam) called me to sing some outro sections and I remember my mother had just come to Mumbai, so I picked her up and took her straight to the studio for a late night session. It was really fun and I got to live the song that day which felt very special.
After ‘Raabta’, ‘Jagga Jasoos’ and others, you have teamed up with Pritam again for ‘Kesariya’. What kind of bond do you both share as a singer and musician?
Well, it sounds like a ‘reunion’ in the eyes of the public, but I have been working on Dada’s sangeet for a whole year since my first release ‘Raabta’. A lot happens in the production phases of films and music and Pritam Da has a lot of releases coming up, all of which are ongoing. So who knows, you might hear more!
While ‘Kesariya’ is receiving immense love from one side, the other part has been left divided due to the words ‘love stories’ in the song. What are your thoughts on the same?
To be honest, that line never bothered me. This makes an otherwise classic song even more distinctive. I have always admired Amitabh Bhattacharya’s work and I think he has such a unique approach on songwriting. To be honest, I think this is one of the most special parts of the song.
After ‘Kesariya’, fans have high hopes from other songs of the film.
Grandfather always delivers! Have any doubts?
‘Brahmastra’ is one of the most awaited films of the year. Is the movie also on your watch list?
I think it will be a very big film not to be seen. And as always, it is a great pleasure to work with Arijit who is truly a living legend and such an amazing person!
