Many of us were waiting for the sequel of the Bollywood film Ek Villain. Ek Villain released in 2014, and was a mix of romance, action and thriller. And it enthralled us with Riteish’s psychic character and Sid-Shraddha’s lovely romantic love story. And all eyes were on its sequel Ek Villain Returns.
Excited to know what is Ek Villain Returns? And does the film live up to the expectations of the audience or not? Then, forget your words for a while and read on! So here is a brief review on the film from my side.
return of a villain review
The film begins with a party at RV’s (Tara Sutaria) house and suddenly a killer enters through the window and kidnaps her and injures others.
A video from the crime scene shows RV addressing the killer as his ex, Gautam (Arjun Kapoor), who had his own issues and a history. Based on the video, the police conclude that Gautam is a criminal.
But, CP VK Ganesan (JD Chakraborty) disagrees as he has his own theories. And one of the suspects is Bhairav Purohit (John Abraham), a cab driver who works part-time at a zoo.
However, he is an innocent cab driver and has a love interest Rasika (Disha Patani) (a young sales lady). But, her character is a bit mysterious.
Acting of lead actors like; John, Disha, Arjun and Tara are average. John Abraham focused only on action. His acting and expressions were not as expected. Disha Patani also lacks acting. Apart from him, Tara tried hard to fit in the role, but still she needs to work on her acting. But in this, Arjun Kapoor gave his best in the film as compared to his previous films. And his effort is commendable.
Also, JD Chakraborty could have done better.
Casting and Directing
John Abraham as Bhairav Purohit
Disha Patani as Rasika Mapuskar
RV Malhotra as Tara Sutaria
Arjun Kapoor as Gautam Mehra
JD Chakraborty as Inspector Razi
Badshah (cameo appearance in the song Shamat)
The film is directed by Mohit Suri who is known for creating a mix of romance and suspense on screen. And I personally liked his direction as he managed to keep the suspense till the end. But this film disappointed me a bit.
Also, the songs are not pleasing except in ‘Galiyan Returns’
Screenwriter Aseem Arora Dialogues were written.
The story is very confusing. And full attention should be given to understand the story.
Is Ek Villain Returns worth watching?
From a personal point of view, I wouldn’t recommend watching it. And if you are a fan of thriller movies then ignore it, as it will surely disappoint you. Also, there are some unnecessary scenes that were not needed.
And you can’t take your kids with you because of the bold scenes, so it’s definitely not a family film.
ratings = 2/5
