Apparently the actor always had a knack for copywriting and it also helped him survive the tough phase of his acting career. During a media interaction, Ranveer told that he had written his first advertisement himself.
Back in 2014, the actor appeared in a Durex commercial called Do the Rex. From writing the lyrics of the song to singing and singing, Ranveer has done it all. The ad received critical acclaim for subtly addressing the taboo topic.
Ranveer recently reminisced about advertising at an IAA event, where he was awarded the Brand Endorser of the Year award by the International Advertising Association (IAA), revealed during the award show that copywriting was his backup career option .
“I wrote my first ad myself, it was for Durex condoms. My first movie was a hit, second and third not so much. So I had to wait a long time for advertisers to really consider me. After my first year Then came all these brands– Cola brand, Telecom brand. At that time I was advised ‘Don’t do it now, when your next film is a hit we will not do double or anything. We will do these brands only at your cost’. ,” shared Ranveer.
The actor said, “Then my second film flopped and they ran away. So I had to wait for four years. The needle wasn’t moving and I was itching because I had these dreams and aspirations. I said I was one. Will be a movie star and brand endorser. So I had this idea for Durex condoms, I actually picked up the call from their management and asked if they wanted to do it. They are involved and the rest is history.”
On the work front, Ranveer was last seen in Jayeshbhai Jordaar. He will next be seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky and Rani’s love story and Rohit Shetty’s Circus in the pipeline.
