In a recent post on Instagram, artist Alesky Briclot shared an early look at the character. According to Bricclot, the art was created shortly after Bell was cast in the role, and was intended to showcase a medley of the comic book version of Gore, with Bell’s likeness on the face intact. The result is a gore that looks a little more menacing than in the movie, complete with warrior armor, large veins running down his arm, and large tendrils flowing down the back of his head.

Of course, the end result looked so different, with director Taika Waititi opting for actor Christian Bale without artificial makeup or going for a different look.

Thor: Love and Thunder Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who is now commanding Mighty Thor and will steer the iconic Mjolnir. Oscar winner Christian Bale is also making his return to the superhero genre, as he signs on for the villainous role of Gore the God Butcher.
