Vijay’s film Ligar is directed by Puri Jagannath and also stars Ananya Panday. The actors are promoting their film across the country. In the film, Vijay plays a kickboxer who became a professional boxer from a ‘chaiwala (tea seller)’ in Mumbai, competing in the US. Ramya Krishnan plays his mother, and Mike Tyson also has a cameo in it.

Recently, Vijay and Ananya starred in episode four of Koffee With Karan season 7. Talking about his journey as compared to Star Kids, Vijay said on the show, “It is definitely not easy when you are like an outsider who has no access. Absolutely for the industry. Also. It makes it very hard to separate. I have never blamed or disliked anyone for being born to a rich father… its not her (Ananya Pandey’s) fault or any star kid’s fault that they are born to one parent, who are acting”.

He also added, “There are benefits to being born a star kid, but I will not change anything in my journey. I am so grateful for having faced every humiliation, every difficulty and every obstacle in my life.”

Produced by Karan Johar, Ligar is set to hit the theaters on August 26 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Apart from Leger, Vijay will also be seen collaborating with Puri in JGM, which is slated to release on August 2023. He also has Kushi opposite Samantha Prabhu, which is slated to release worldwide on December 23, 2022.
