How did you come on board for ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’?
Two years ago, I got a call from Mukesh Chhabra’s office and he asked me to audition for a scene with Aamir Khan. Curiosity, glee and anticipation of panic were my initial reactions. I went for the audition. A few days later, I got a call confirming that I was part of the cast.

Tell us something about your character in the film.
I am a part of the film. The rest, I think, are best left to appear on the big screen. All the audience needs to know right now is that this is the story of the life journey of a simple, lovable man, Lal Singh Chaddha, and the rest of the cast plays characters in this joyous and inspiring journey of his life. It is a beautiful film that will surely strike a chord with the audience. I am also thankful to Aamir and the film’s director Advait Chandan for choosing me to play the role that was assigned to me. Like other Aamir Khan starrer films in the past, I hope this film also riots at the box office and more importantly establishes itself in Indian film history.

How was your experience working with Aamir Khan?
it was perfect! When you are with him on set you do one thing and learn from his traits at work, his unwavering focus, his commitment to film, his insightful understanding of the craft of filmmaking and his relentless drive for excellence. , It’s another thing when you are at home, reminiscing about the events of the day and you tell yourself that you deserve to shoot with one of the foremost trailblazers of Indian cinema, one of the country’s most respected filmmakers. Had the opportunity. Most bankable stars ever. ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ will always be special for me as my first film on the big screen. Working with Aamir on the sets was quite normal. It was refreshing to see such a huge superstar make such an appearance on the sets without any hassles.

The film also stars other talented actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, Naga Chaitanya and others. How well did you guys bond on the sets?
I didn’t get time to interact with other actors on the sets. I’ll report, the makeup and hair team will handle, shots will be shot and when I’m done for the day, I’ll leave. I continued to host events, so had to prepare for them as well. But, yes, I must say that every actor in the primary cast and secondary cast of the film is very talented. And every one of them fits the role they were cast for, perfectly.

The release of the film has been awaited for a long time. It has finally fixed the release date. What do you think will attract the audience to theatres?
Aamir Khan’s film is coming in theaters after a long time! Aamir Khan’s film is like a promise, a promise to deliver good cinema. Kareena has a huge fan following, many would like to see her on the big screen after a hiatus. And then I believe every film has a vibe. The spirit of this film is so endearing that it will attract the audience towards itself. And, the release date is a win-win situation! A lot of holidays, so families will come to the theaters.

The songs of the film are already getting tremendous reviews. Which is your favorite song from the film?
My favorite is ‘Story’. I love Amitabh Bhattacharya’s song – ‘Kya pata hum mein hai kahani ya hai kahani mein hum’. It is beautifully sung by Mohan Kannan and Pritam has done a wonderful job with the feel of the song. The song perfectly captures the character of ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’.

There has been a boom of female-oriented content especially on OTT. What are your thoughts on this as an actor?

Well, I couldn’t have asked for a better time to debut as a female actor! Not just the content, I think we also have some very skilled female actors on OTT at the moment. And of course, writers are finally getting a chance to weave the scripts they’ve always longed to write.

An actor you have always looked up to as an artist and a person…
From the current lot of Hindi film actors, I think there is some serious talent in Alia Bhatt, Aamir Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ranbir Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Fawad Khan, Ranveer Singh and of course Amitabh Bachchan. I won’t be able to comment on him personally, as I don’t know him closely, but Ranveer seems to be the cutest and Abhishek Bachchan is the most refined, polished and well-bred. Globally, I totally dig Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise.

You have accomplished a lot in your illustrious career so far. How do you look back on it today?
I got so much more than I thought. After nearly two decades in the business, I am still at center stage, hosting some of the best events being put on by the Indian experiential industry. I have received a lot of love and appreciation from both the audience and the industry. It was my destiny, I did well and I worked hard. This is truly a story that simply will not be written!

One thing I’m glad some of us did is that we systematically became examples of how, through motherhood, marriage and after all, we could be without these responsibilities as any other human being as a professional. can be as good. The archaic mentality questioning this is surely coming to an end. I’ve been an anchor for the entire length of my working life, I could have shifted my focus to acting a few years ago, but I’ve held back and waited to reach a certain point in my career as a host. More importantly, I chose to wait for my daughter to reach a certain age and stage in her life.

Today, I feel, I have very little left to prove as an anchor, it is now a journey of great opportunities and experiences. It’s a well-oiled system on autopilot, which will automatically roll over for many more years to come. In that sense, I like to take things to a definite conclusion. And now I am, as a part of the cast of the most awaited film of the year, a banner that is an artist’s dream to work for, a story that is inspiring and endearing and a co-star like Aamir Khan, who is an Indian Film legend. It’s like I sashayed from one shiny white cloud to another, hippie hippy hop! Overall, it has been quite a first class trip!
