When Akshay Kumar said, ‘fayda kujh nhi legacy banake’ | Bollywood

Akshay Kumar is currently gearing up for the release of his third film of 2022. Now he will be seen in Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan which is slated to release in theaters on August 11. His last film Samrat Prithviraj was not successful at the box office. Now an old interview of Akshay talking about the redundancy of legacy in an actor’s life has surfaced online. The actor once said that there is no point in having a legacy. Read also: Akshay Kumar says he won’t make ‘ghinoni’ films: ‘Don’t want any kind of image’

Akshay made his acting debut with the 1991 film Saugandh and is known for wrapping films in short intervals and delivering several blockbusters every year.

During the Actors Roundtable with Rajeev Masand in 2017 Akshay sat down to talk about films between late actors Irrfan Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Dhawan. On the subject of inheritance, Akshay said, “The only thing for me is to keep working everyday. Because that’s what will keep me alive. I love work, I love my holidays, I love family life and that’s it. I want this heritage, veggie toh ho rahe hai, kuch nahi atta (Heritage is useless, it is of no use).”

He further added, “I have seen many big actors, old actors. A super duper star was fighting with a production man worth more than Rs 100, they were doing small roles. Nothing is there. Main To Chahungi Zindagi Mein. Aisi koi ki koi ho, kadaar ho bhi big people ki. Fayeda kujh nahi virasat banake (I would like such things, big stalwarts should get the respect they deserve, but there is no use in creating a legacy).”

A Reddit user agreed with Akshay saying, “I never thought of that and now that I think about it, he’s not wrong at all. He’s doing his stuff for himself and his family.” And that’s it. And the best part is that he admits it. He publicly says that he does this for the money. He is not showing off or asking us to call him a great actor. It’s not that he says one thing and does another. No, the man follows his words. Respect him for that.”

Another said, “But I like that he is not arrogant about his star power, he knows everything is over, he has done some good films in his career, some bad films now he is just enjoying life and doing whatever comes his way.”

As one Reddit user said that “people like Akshay are just activists working in an artistic field, but don’t understand it,” another user countered them, saying, “Others like Akshay, don’t care about art. May think differently. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion and go with it. They are shaped by their life experiences, just as you are your own. Your opinion is neither better than nor worse than that.”

After Raksha Bandhan, Akshay has half a dozen more files in the pipeline. He will be seen in Ram Setu this Diwali and also has a selfie, OMG 2 – Oh My God!, Soorarai Pottru remake slated for release next year.
