Ranveer Singh, who has been embroiled in a controversy over a nude photoshoot for a magazine, has recently sought two weeks’ time to appear before the Mumbai Police.

According to ANI, the actor was summoned by the Mumbai Police on August 22. However, after seeking two weeks’ time, a fresh summon will be issued by the Chembur police after fixing the new date.

ANI tweeted, ‘Nude photoshoot controversy. The Chembur police station had summoned actor Ranveer Singh to appear yesterday. Actor has sought 2 weeks time to appear, now Chembur police will send fresh summons by fixing a new date: Mumbai Police.

An NGO and a Mumbai-based lawyer made separate applications to the Chembur police, demanding that a case be registered against Ranveer last month. The actor was booked under the Indian Penal Code for selling obscene material and insulting the modesty of a woman, as well as for publishing sexually explicit material under the Information Technology Act.

While he is receiving a response from the masses, his friends and Bollywood counterparts are showering support for the actor. Celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Vidya Balan, Twinkle Khanna, Swara Bhaskar, Pooja Bedi, Ram Gopal Varma and others have come out in defense of the actor on social media.
