In an interview with a news portal, Diya recalled that during the fifth month of her pregnancy, she had to undergo appendix surgery and it was probably this surgery that led to some bacterial infection in her body. Her placenta was bleeding and the doctor said they had to take her baby out or else she would go into sepsis. It was life-threatening for both of them and the baby had to undergo surgery within 36 hours of birth.
Diya further elaborated that three and a half months after Avyan’s birth, he had to undergo another surgery. He was in NICU at that time. The actress told Bollywood Hungama that she was not even allowed to hold him until two-and-a-half months had passed since she was born.
Diya also recalled that this happened during the second wave of the pandemic. Avyan was so small and delicate and it was covid time so there were all kinds of other conditions and rules that he had to follow. The actress revealed that she was only allowed to see her baby twice a week. Diya also said that she always believed that he would not leave her and that he would fight and survive.
