Glen Powell Denies MCU X-Men Movie Casting

Rumors have been swirling for some time that Glenn Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, scream queens) will play Cyclops in the upcoming X Men Film for Marvel Studios. However, as far as the actor is aware, this will not happen at all.

Talking to Variety Recently, Powell shut down rumors that he would appear as the group’s leader. According to the actor, Star also doesn’t have any information on contacting Marvel if he wants to, so there’s no credence to the rumors (which were circulating before San Diego Comic-Con 2022).

“Before Comic-Con, everyone was like, ‘Man, are you Cyclops? No, I’m not,” said Powell. “Nobody has called me. I don’t have a single contact information for Marvel, so I don’t know what people are talking about.”

Of course, while Powell may just play the nerdy role on the matter, it doesn’t appear that Marvel Studios has any concrete plans for the iconic mutant group so far. However, things seem to be heating up, especially with actor Giancarlo Esposito recently publicly saying that he would love to play Professor X in a movie.

The role Powell gets to play in the MCU is yet to be seen, but it looks like Marvel Studios is slowly moving towards introducing full-fledged mutants into its world.
