Nick Dansi Adjei gets ultimate honour at Shippers Awards; named Entrepreneur of the year – Citi Business News

Mr. Nick Danso Adzei, Chairman, Ghana Link Network Services Limited (Ghana Link) was presented the final award at the 5th edition of the Ghana Shippers Awards held at Kempinski Hotel, Accra on Friday, August 19, 2022.

He was crowned as “Entrepreneur of the Year” at the awards night.

The award is in recognition of Mr. Danso Adjei’s exemplary and visionary leadership for leveraging technology and automating business processes, thus increasing revenue for national development.

He successfully led his team at Ghana Link to drive the implementation of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), a trade facilitation tool in Ghana.

The award is the second time the Executive Chairman of Ghana Links has won the highest award at the Ghana Shippers Awards.

Mr. Nick Danso Adjei won the Personality of the Year Award last year for his exceptional leadership, vision, integrity and business in helping make the country the gateway to the West African sub-region.

In an interview, Mr Danso Adjei’s Ghana Links thanked the Ghana Shipper’s Authority for recognition to the organizers of the award and the entire business community in particular the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and its Customs Division, Freight Forwarders, Importers and Exporters Association, Shipping Lines. He added that Ghana Link Network Services Limited was committed to improving the system’s procedures to make it even more robust than it is today to help the Customs Department of GRA raise more revenue for the development of the country.

“The work we have done in Ghana today with the help of our stakeholders has been seen in the sub-region and because of this, The Gambia has called on Ghana Link Network Services Limited to try and deploy the ICUMS system in their country To help reduce the turnaround time at the port and increase the revenue generated at their ports of entry.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Department and Domestic Tax Division) led by Mr. Danso Adjei’s Ghana Link has started deploying phase two of ICUMS like e-auctions, aimed at helping to make auction processes transparent and smooth. To do.

The company also hopes to work with authorities at Kotoka Airport to deploy the Airport Passenger Information System, also known as APIS.

Speaking at the event, Frederick Obeng Edom, Deputy Minister of Transport, said that the government is taking action to find a permanent solution to shipper complaints, including the arbitrary fees and unacceptable exchange rates used by some service providers.

Mr Obeng Adom, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Transport at the 5th edition of the Ghana Shippers Awards, revealed that the Ministry is currently taking new measures to ensure that incoming complaints are dealt with promptly and in a timely manner.

He pointed out that complaints about arbitrary fees and exchange rates used by some service providers are issues on which the ministry is angry and was working with stakeholders to understand their concerns, ensuring that the local currency The Cedi, is the only currency used in all transactions. at the ports of Ghana.

“It is my earnest hope that a consensus will be reached to deal with these matters at the earliest so as to not only support your operations but also accelerate economic growth,” he said.

Speaking on the awards, Ghana Shippers Authority CEO, Benonita Bismarck said that her organization will continue to promote and protect the interests of shippers while rewarding them for their efforts to streamline import and export processes in Ghana.
